Prepare Your Space for the Perfect Sauna Experience

Proper site preparation is essential for a safe, efficient, and long-lasting sauna installation. A well-planned foundation, adequate clearances, and appropriate electrical and ventilation provisions help ensure optimal performance and years of enjoyment.

Foundation & Placement

• Stable, Level Surface: Install your sauna on a firm, level, load-bearing foundation capable of supporting the full weight of the sauna, heater, stones, and occupants.
• Suitable Foundation: Depending on site conditions, appropriate foundations may include a concrete pad, properly installed pavers, a reinforced deck, or a properly compacted crushed gravel base. Gravel should be adequately graded and compacted, with stable, even support beneath the sauna's structural cradles. Always follow manufacturer-specific foundation requirements.
• Proper Drainage: Outdoor installations should allow water to drain away from the sauna foundation. Avoid locations prone to standing water or flooding.
• Adequate Clearances: Allow sufficient space around and above the sauna for assembly, ventilation, safe operation, and future maintenance.
• Accessibility: Ensure a clear, accessible pathway for transporting sauna components from the freight delivery location to the installation site.

Electrical & Heater Requirements

• Dedicated Electrical Circuit: Electric sauna heaters require an appropriately sized dedicated electrical circuit based on the selected heater's specifications.
• Professional Installation: All electrical connections must be completed by a qualified, licensed electrician in accordance with local codes and manufacturer instructions.
• Lighting & Accessories: Plan for the included LED lighting system, optional WiFi controls, and any additional electrical accessories.
• Heater Safety Clearances: Maintain all manufacturer-required distances between the heater, benches, walls, glass, and surrounding materials.
• Outdoor Electrical Protection: Electrical controls and components installed outdoors require appropriate weather protection according to their ratings and applicable electrical codes.

Ventilation & Environmental Considerations

• Proper Airflow: Keep the sauna's fresh-air intake and exhaust openings unobstructed to support proper ventilation and effective heating.
• Outdoor Exposure: Consider prevailing winds, rainfall, snow accumulation, and drainage when selecting your installation location.
• Weather Protection: Install the included shingle roofing system and drip-edge components according to SaunaLife's instructions.
• Exterior Finishing: The EE8GB includes SaunaShield Black Sauna Paint for on-site application. Follow the paint manufacturer's surface preparation, coating, drying, and curing instructions.
• Local Requirements: Review applicable building codes, electrical requirements, permits, HOA restrictions, and property setbacks before installation.

Assembly & Installation

The SaunaLife EE8GB arrives as a precision-crafted outdoor sauna kit requiring on-site assembly and exterior painting. A prepared team of at least two people is recommended, with assembly time depending on experience, tools, and site conditions.

Review the manufacturer's installation manual and SaunaShield paint application instructions before beginning. Professional assembly may be preferred for challenging locations or complex installations.

Before Your Sauna Arrives

Confirm that your foundation is complete, site access is clear, applicable permits have been addressed, and required electrical work is scheduled.

Review the sauna's dimensions, freight requirements, assembly instructions, and exterior painting procedures before delivery. Allow sufficient time for paint application, drying, and curing before the sauna's first use.
