The Immersion Tub

Luxury hot & cold plunge. A true 32°F to 113°F range in a single 316 marine-grade stainless steel and red cedar tub — no separate chiller, no plumbing, no compromise.

Figure 1 — Temperature range

32°F to 113°F. Same tub. Same outlet.

The Immersion Tub covers the full working range in a single vessel — 32°F ice-forming cold to 113°F peak heat, on a standard 120V outlet. Session zones below are the recommended windows for each ritual.

What this means for you

One tub. Ice-cold recovery in the morning, warm soak at night. No dual plumbing, no dual outlets, no dual equipment closet.

Will I fit?

Built to fit you. Not fold you.

Most cold plunges force you to fold — knees jammed, shoulders half out of the water, ritual cut short. The Immersion Tub was engineered around a 316 marine-grade stainless interior long enough and deep enough to submerge fully. Shoulders under. Legs extended. Every session.

Six foot five. Shoulders under water. No folding, no half-measures — exactly the way the tub was designed to be used.

What this means for you

If you’re tall — or you’re buying for someone who is — you don’t have to compromise on the ritual. Full submersion. Full leg extension. Every day.

Why we build it this way

Five decisions that shape the tub.

316 marine-grade stainless, not acrylic. Real cedar, not veneer. 2HP compressor, not a repurposed dorm-fridge cooling coil.
Interior corner of the 316 stainless liner showing a tight, ground-flat vertical weld with no visible caulk or filler.
Decision I

316 marine-grade stainless, welded & ground flat

Acrylic and fiberglass are cheaper to mold, but they scratch, host biofilm in the scratches, and fade. 316 marine-grade stainless — the alloy specified for marine hardware, pharmaceutical vessels, and coastal architecture — is more corrosion-resistant than the 304 alloy most tubs and appliances use. That matters here because the water is ozonated, cold-cycled, and treated. 316 handles it without pitting.

The corners are TIG-welded and ground flat. Run a wet hand down a seam and you'll feel a smooth transition, not a lumpy bead. And where the stainless top cap meets the cedar exterior, the metal folds over the edge and wraps down onto the wood — there is no caulk line to fail and no black seam to collect mildew. That detail on its own is worth taking a hand to in the showroom.

Decision II

Real western red cedar exterior

Western red cedar is naturally rot-resistant, dimensionally stable, and it silvers gracefully outdoors. We chose it over composite panels because the tub is meant to live outside if you want it to — and because a real wood exterior ages into character rather than fading into plastic.

Decision III

A real 32°F floor — with clean water to match

Most residential cold plunges bottom out around 39°F. The Immersion Tub can genuinely form ice — because the compressor is a 2HP commercial unit, not a scaled-down A/C part. And because ice-cold water has to stay clean, the tub includes built-in ozone sanitation and a 20-micron filtration loop. Sub-freezing capability plus clear water, out of the box.

Decision IV

Standard 120V household power

No 240V dedicated circuit. No electrician appointment. A single 120V / 15A grounded outlet — the outlet already in most garages and covered patios — runs the entire system. For best longevity we recommend covered use (patio roof, pergola, overhang), and the outlet must be weatherproof and GFCI-protected — an in-use bubble cover that stays sealed with the plug inserted. Have a licensed electrician verify local code.

Decision V · The architecture

All-in-one — one vessel does the whole job.

The chiller, heater, ozone system, and filtration all live inside the tub. There is no separate chiller box to hide, no run of insulated line to the garage, no external equipment closet. What arrives is what you install.

Sound

Not silent. Not a jet engine.

A cold plunge has a compressor. Every one on the market does. Instead of comparing ours to a whisper or a rainfall, we put a sound level meter on it. Here's exactly what we measured at our Vancouver showroom — TopTes TS-501B, A-weighted, slow response.

Sound level meter reading 73.6 dB, held 3 feet from the chiller side of the Immersion Tub during active cooling. The tub, chiller vent, and cedar cladding are visible in the background.

Sound level meter reading 72.6 dB, held over the interior of the Immersion Tub at water level — approximately 4 feet from the chiller on the far end of the tub. This is where a user's ear would be during a plunge.

When the compressor isn't running, the circulation pump alone measures around 50 dBA — quieter than a refrigerator, quieter than light rain, quieter than a normal conversation across a room.

The compressor makes noise. Here's exactly how much. We'd rather show you a meter reading than tell you it sounds like a rainstorm.

Measurements taken indoors at our Vancouver, WA showroom using a TopTes TS-501B sound level meter set to A-weighting, slow response. Real-world levels vary with ambient noise, room acoustics, distance, and whether the tub is installed indoors or outdoors.

Frequently asked

Answers to the most common questions.

How is one tub both hot and cold?
The Immersion Tub integrates both a 2HP compressor and a 4,500W heater in a single all-in-one unit. Set your target temperature on the LCD or in the Tuya app, and the tub cools or heats water to hold that setpoint.
Does it really make its own ice?
Yes. The 2HP commercial compressor can pull water down to 32°F and hold it there, forming a thin ice layer on the surface. Ice-Making Mode is designed for ambient temperatures between 42°F and 100°F, with 59–86°F optimal. Normal cold and hot use (DIY Mode) works across a wider ambient range of 33.8°F to 113°F — so the tub still runs on hot summer days or chilly winter mornings; it just may not auto-form ice outside the Ice-Making window.
Do I need a special electrical circuit?
No. The tub runs on a standard 120V / 15A dedicated grounded outlet — the same kind you already have in most garages and covered patios. It must be GFCI-protected and cannot share the circuit with other devices. For outdoor installs, the outlet must be a weatherproof, in-use (bubble-cover) receptacle that stays sealed against rain, snow, and splash while the plug is inserted. Have a licensed electrician verify the receptacle meets local code before you plug in.
Where can I put it?
Indoors or outdoors, on any flat, waterproof surface that supports 1,200 lbs — reinforced concrete, tile over a reinforced subfloor, engineered pavers, or a purpose-built deck rated for spa loads. Leave 11.8" clearance on both sides and 27.5" at the rear. For best longevity we recommend covered use — a patio roof, pergola, or overhang — so the control head and cedar shell aren't taking direct rain or sun year-round. The electrical outlet must be weatherproof and GFCI-protected regardless of where the tub sits (see “Do I need a special electrical circuit?” above).
How do you keep the water clean?

Three things working together: built-in ozone sanitation with an adjustable timer, a triple filtration loop with a 20-micron easy-change cartridge, and cold storage temperatures (below 55°F) that inhibit microbial growth between sessions. Ozone destroys bacteria and viruses, then reverts to oxygen — no added chemicals required for baseline sanitation.

Optional supplemental treatment. If you want to extend water clarity between drain-and-fill cycles, two options are approved in the owner's manual: 3% food-grade or medical-grade hydrogen peroxide (4–8 oz once or twice per week after use — never industrial-grade), or a natural enzyme-based treatment used per the manufacturer's instructions to break down oils and organic matter.

What not to use: chlorine or bromine tablets (formulated for hot tubs — they corrode components at cold temperatures), salt water (accelerates corrosion of the stainless steel and internal plumbing), or industrial-grade peroxide and strong oxidizers.

Do I need a plumber?
No. The tub fills from a standard garden hose and drains through the included stainless drain fitting and clear drain tube. No dedicated water line, no drain plumbing.
What does it cost to run each month?

Honest answer: it depends on how you use it. For cold-only use in a moderate climate with the insulated lid on between sessions, budget roughly $20 to $45 per month in electricity at U.S. average rates (~18¢/kWh, EIA). That range is where most well-insulated home cold plunges land — hot climates, uncovered use, or aggressive ice-making pushes it higher; cool climates and disciplined lid use pull it lower.

Hot-tub use is a different animal. The 4,500W heater is what pulls the wall when you're holding the tub at 104°F, and heater cost scales with how often you use it hot and how cold your outdoor ambient is. If you plan to run it as a hot tub daily through a Pacific Northwest winter, expect that side of the bill to be materially higher than cold-only operation.

Want an exact number for your situation? Plug the tub into a Kill-A-Watt meter for a week and multiply by your local rate. That's the only way to get a real answer — everyone else's guess is just a guess.

How often do I change the filter and the water?

Straight from our owner's manual — the same schedule we tell every owner:

  • Rinse the filter weekly under a garden hose. Takes about 90 seconds.
  • Replace the filter every 4 to 6 weeks, or sooner if it stops rinsing clean. Two cartridges ship with the tub — one pre-installed, one spare. Replacements are $15 each in packs of three.
  • Drain, clean, and refill the tub every 3 to 6 months, or sooner if water looks cloudy, foamy, or off. Ozone plus a small weekly peroxide dose stretches water life closer to the 6-month end for most owners.

One-touch drainage through the stainless ball valve and included clear drain tube makes the full water change a garden-hose job, not a plumbing project.

Can I use it outdoors year-round in a cold climate?

Yes, with two rules. First, the tub itself is rated for outdoor operation as long as ambient temperature stays above 34°F. In Ice-Making Mode, the compressor works most efficiently between 42°F and 100°F ambient (optimal 59°F to 86°F). Below 34°F ambient — hard freeze territory — you either need to keep the tub running (circulation and freeze protection prevent internal ice), or fully winterize and drain per the manual.

Second, the electrical side has to be weatherproofed. The outlet must be GFCI-protected and rated for outdoor use, with a weatherproof in-use cover. Keep the tub covered when you're not in it — the insulated lid protects the water from debris, holds temperature, and materially reduces run-cost. If the tub will be unused for 7+ days in freezing weather, drain it: freeze damage is not covered under warranty.

How long does setup take, and do I need tools?

Plan for about 45 to 60 minutes of hands-on work, plus fill time. No tools required for the basic setup.

  • Uncrate and place the tub — 20 to 30 minutes with a helper. Two people can move it into position on a level surface (concrete pad, deck rated for the load, or firm patio stone).
  • Connect the drain fitting and clear drain tube — 5 minutes. Teflon tape included.
  • Fill with a standard garden hose — about 60 to 90 minutes to reach 100 gallons.
  • Plug in, set temperature via the touch screen or WiFi app, run the initial filter cycle — 10 minutes of setup, then the chiller starts working.

First cool-down from tap-water temperature to a plunge-ready 40–50°F takes a few hours depending on starting temperature and ambient. After that, the tub holds temperature on its own — you're not restarting from warm every time.

What's the warranty?
The Immersion Tub is protected by NW Immersion's limited warranty covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. Save your receipt — warranty claims require proof of purchase. Full terms are included in the owner's manual.
How heavy is it, and can my deck hold it?
Filled, the tub weighs approximately 1,200 lbs. Reinforced concrete and tile over reinforced subfloor are fine. For elevated wood decks and balconies, consult a licensed contractor or structural engineer to verify joist spacing, span, and support posts meet local code for spa loading.
How loud is it?

Honest answer, with actual meter readings instead of marketing copy. Measured at our Vancouver showroom with a sound level meter (A-weighted, slow response):

  • 73.6 dBA at 3 feet during active cooling. Compressor pulling heat.
  • 72.6 dBA at 4 feet from the chiller — in-tub at water level, where your ear will be during a plunge.
  • 50 dBA at 3 feet, pump only. When the compressor isn't running, the circulation pump alone measures around 50 dBA — quieter than a refrigerator.

For reference, a Dreo tower fan on high in the same room measured 69.3 dBA at 3 feet. A cold plunge has a compressor. It's louder than silence and quieter than a lot of things in your house.

Do you deliver, and is freight included?

Yes. Free freight to the contiguous United States is included in the price. Standard delivery is curbside on a lift-gate truck.

White Glove delivery — which includes placement and packaging removal — is available as an optional upgrade. White Glove placement is to the first floor only. No stairs. Contact info@nwimmersion.com for a quote.

What if I need to return it?

You can request a return within 30 calendar days of delivery, as long as the tub is still in its original factory crate — unopened, uncrated, uninstalled, and unused. A 10% restocking fee applies, and you're responsible for the actual original outbound freight and the return freight, which are deducted from your refund. Once we receive and inspect the returned unit (within 5 business days), your refund is issued to the original payment method within another 5 business days.

Orders can be cancelled free of charge within 24 hours of purchase, or up until your order enters documented fulfillment. After fulfillment but before shipment, a fixed 5% cancellation fee applies. Once the tub has shipped, our return terms apply instead.

Opened, uncrated, assembled, or used tubs are not returnable — functional issues at that point are handled under warranty. Shipping damage must be noted on the delivery receipt and reported within 7 days.

Every return starts with an RMA — email info@nwimmersion.com with your order number. Full terms: Returns, Refunds & Cancellations.

Why buy The Immersion Tub from NW Immersion directly instead of a marketplace?
The Immersion Tub is our own product — an NW Immersion Exclusive built to our specifications. When you buy it from us, you buy it from the people who designed it. You get direct access to our Vancouver, Washington team for support, our full manufacturer's warranty on the record, and human help — not a marketplace ticket queue — whenever a question comes up.
Is cold-water immersion safe for me?
Cold-water immersion can cause hypothermia, shock, cardiac stress, and in extreme cases loss of consciousness. Consult a physician before use if you have heart disease, blood pressure issues, diabetes, epilepsy, Raynaud's syndrome, or any chronic condition. Do not use the tub after alcohol, drugs, or medications that cause drowsiness. Never sleep in the tub, and never leave it uncovered and unattended.
How should I start if I've never plunged before?
Begin at 55–60°F for 1–3 minutes and progress deliberately over several weeks. Never exceed ten minutes below 50°F, even for experienced users. Allow at least four hours between cold sessions, and no more than two sessions per day. Warm gradually afterward — let your body rewarm naturally over 15–20 minutes rather than jumping into a hot shower.

The Flagship Hot & Cold Plunge from NW Immersion

The Immersion Tub Luxury Hot & Cold Plunge is NW Immersion’s flagship recovery system, created for people who want professional-grade cold therapy, warm soaking, and contrast therapy without the complexity of external chillers, complicated plumbing, or constant ice runs.

At the heart of the system is a powerful integrated 2HP chiller and heater capable of cooling water down to 32°F and heating up to 113°F. That means one tub can support cold exposure, ice bath sessions, warm soaking, and sauna-to-plunge contrast therapy from a single, beautifully finished system.

The interior is intentionally spacious, with a 316 stainless steel basin designed for comfort, durability, and full-body immersion. Unlike many compact cold plunges, the Immersion Tub comfortably accommodates users up to 6'5"+, making it an ideal choice for taller users, athletes, and anyone who wants a less restrictive plunge experience.

The exterior is finished in architectural red cedar, giving the tub a warm, furniture-like presence that feels appropriate in luxury homes, backyard retreats, gyms, spas, recovery rooms, and indoor or covered outdoor wellness spaces.

With WiFi control, integrated display, triple filtration, ozone sanitation, and service-friendly mechanical access, the Immersion Tub is designed not only to look beautiful, but to be easier to own, maintain, and use every day.

Installation & Setup

Click Here for the Immersion Tub Installation and Owners Manual

Plug-and-Plunge Simplicity

The Immersion Tub is designed for a streamlined installation experience. Because the chiller, heater, filtration, ozone, and controls are built directly into the system, there is no external chiller to place, no hoses to connect, and no permanent plumbing required.

For best performance and longevity, place the tub on a flat, waterproof, load-bearing surface with proper drainage, airflow, and service clearance. Outdoor installations should be covered or partially protected whenever possible.

Quick Setup Process

  1. Position the tub on a level, load-bearing surface with proper clearance.
  2. Confirm the GFCI plug and electrical connection are protected from direct rain, heavy spray, and pooling water.
  3. Make sure all vents, access points, and chiller airflow areas are clear.
  4. Connect the drain assembly using Teflon tape and ensure the valve is closed.
  5. Rinse and wipe down the stainless steel interior before filling.
  6. Prepare the integrated filter housing and fill the filter chamber with water.
  7. Fill the tub to at least 2" above the outlet level.
  8. Open the internal valve and allow the water to settle for approximately 20 minutes.
  9. Plug into a dedicated 120V / 15A GFCI-protected outlet and power on.

Recommended Placement & Airflow

Protect Your Investment with Proper Placement

The Immersion Tub Luxury Hot & Cold Plunge is designed for indoor or outdoor use, but for best long-term performance and protection, we strongly recommend placing it in a covered or partially protected area rather than leaving it fully exposed to the elements.

Like any system with integrated electrical and chiller components, proper placement, airflow, and freeze protection are important for safety, performance, and longevity.

For best results:

  • Place the tub under a covered patio, pergola, sauna shelter, wellness structure, or other protected area whenever possible.
  • Keep the GFCI plug and electrical connection protected from direct rain, heavy spray, pooling water, and standing water.
  • Keep the chiller compartment, vents, and access panels clear of dust, leaves, debris, snow, towels, storage bins, or anything that could restrict airflow.
  • Do not block the vents or mechanical access points.
  • Maintain the recommended side and rear clearances so the system can breathe and be serviced properly.
  • Place the tub on a flat, waterproof, load-bearing surface with good drainage.
  • When ambient temperatures are expected to fall below 40°F, we recommend keeping the tub temperature set to at least 45°F to help reduce the risk of freezing damage to chiller components.

Proper placement and temperature management help the chiller operate efficiently, reduce unnecessary strain on the system, and help protect the electrical and mechanical components over time.

Yes. The Immersion Tub is designed for indoor or outdoor use, but for best long-term performance, we strongly recommend placing it in a covered or partially protected area rather than fully exposed to the elements.

The Immersion Tub can be used outdoors, but it should not be treated like a fully weather-exposed object with electrical and chiller components open to the elements. We strongly recommend covered or partially protected placement. Keep the GFCI plug and electrical connection protected from direct rain, heavy spray, pooling water, and standing water.

Yes, but cold-weather care is important. If ambient temperatures are expected to fall below 40°F, we recommend keeping the tub temperature set to at least 45°F to help reduce the risk of freezing damage to chiller components. The tub should also be placed in a covered or partially protected area whenever possible.

Water change frequency depends on usage, water care, environment, and maintenance habits. With proper filtration, ozone sanitation, and regular care, many owners can go multiple months between water changes.
